Graphic Design Projects
Student @ MassArt | Communication Design Certificate
Series of pieces created during my Foundations of Graphic Design class at MassArt. Includes an object drawing and pattern, type design and product mockup design.
FOUNDATIONS OF GRAPHIC DESIGN:
Color Schemes and Squares
Used 4 squares to convey the concept of "congestion". The color theme used throughout this series of projects was designed to represent "sadness". See the other palettes created below.

Object Drawing
One of our initial projects in this class was to draw an object (without any context for the following projects). My object was a perfume bottle.

Cropped Object Drawing
The goal of the following project was to break up and rearrange pieces of the aforementioned drawing to create a layout that directs the eye. I used the metal banding that wrapped around my perfume bottle to create a counter-clockwise ribboning flow.

Object Drawing - Five Modes
Gesture - sumi brush inspired
Graphic - squiggles and stippled dots
Simplified - bottle in the negative space
Radical - 90s inspired
Nirvana - minimal strokes

Pattern Making
Created a set of patterns using fragments from the previous five modes' drawings,

Custom Typeface
The custom script-like typeface was inspired by scent trails and dispersing mist. The goal was for the letterforms to behave like a fading fragrance diffusing into the air.

Lockups and Product Mockups
Lockups for a fictional brand called "Sillage Mists"
Sillage (noun): the lingering aroma of your perfume that other people can smell even after you've walked away. (See the quote above).

Other Projects
Magazine Cover
Created and used a color palette to create a visual hierarchy to match the picture on the right.

Color Palettes
Created twelve 3-color palettes to convey the listed concepts.
